What makes this different from other joystick caps? 

The others have 2 Maria’s (bumps) on the noodle so that the grommet seats in the crevice between them. When you gyrate the cap, it won’t sling out for that reason or get pushed down through the grommet into the crucible (lose ability to gyrate) 

Glassblowers put those two notches in - in order to prevent that. The one downside to this style cap is that it makes it necessary to take the entire flux cap grommet off of the crucible to clear your piece. This can interfere with the fluidity of your dabbing( fiddling with the grommet to get the cap back into place), and also causes wear and tear on that silicone sleeve. 

 My cap has just one Maria (bump).  When you adjust the grommet as demonstrated in the attached video, as long as your putting some minimal pressure down on the top of the cap when your gyrating it, no matter how hard you get at it, it wont sling out.

The Puffco pro 3D and 3DXL models fit their respective stock sleeve systems - although you would want to insert the LOC in the same way demonstrated in the first video- when I was using the flux cap grommet
